WHAT IS QR AND HOW IT WORKS

Its actually Scan and not Snap
Hello pals, goodday...Technology wont stop surprising me ooooo!!!. There is something we must have been seeing, something like the above picture and we might be wondering what does it mean and how can we decipher the code. Not so many people know about it in this part of the world but i feel privilege telling you guys how this stuff works.

QR is short for Quick Response (they can be read quickly by a cell phone QR/Barcode Reader App). They are used to take a piece of information from a transitory media and put it in to your cell phone. You may soon see QR Codes in a magazine advert, on a billboard, a web page or even on someone's t-shirt. (Source: Search Engine Land: What is QR Code and Why You need one. Oct 15, 2009)
Its actually Scan and not Snap
This technology has been since 1997 but it's awareness hasn't spread to some part of the world and majority site owners barely create QR codes for visitors.
With the advent of technology, not only are we likely to start getting lazy but things can be done faster, sites can be visited without punching long URL links like mine www.majorpanedmajorfactor.blogspot.com (lol). If not for URL Shortner maybe some viewers would have gotten tired...thanks to social media who makes it easy sending links rather than people typing afresh. So just as we are one click away from links, so can we be one snap away from links.
How does it work?
Blackberry users, if you go to your place where you have your name, status, pin, you will see "Show Barcode"...when you click on this, it takes you to this page and opens your camera.
*Use your camera to scan your friends QR and it automatically sends him/her a request rather than typing the pin on the "Add Pin Page".

Note: BBM QR Scanner is restricted only to BBM QR.

To show how effective this is, when you download the app on your mobile phone, you can use the app to read any QR you spot either Hardcopy or Softcopy. Its advisable you download QR/Barcode Reader App which allows you to scan Barcodes as well from books, journals or what ever...just make sure you are connected to the internet.

Try check out vital information on products shipping details, manufacturing dates, and so on just like this picture below:
You can create yours via these QR generators Visualead.com or Kaywa.com
If you are using blogger, you can as well have a view on your QR code which is generated immediately after you use the Goggle URL Shortener, click on details...then you see the QR code for that particular post which you can copy and paste on your facebook or twitter or where you feel like.

Here is the QR for this post
As we speak there is whatapp web and its this process you are likely to use to activate it...
