MEETING GOD HALF WAY by Dontel Rajis

(Mark 10 – 46 – 52) talks about Jesus healing a blind man Bartimaeus. Something caught me about that particular verse, the bible recorded that Bartimaeus shouted when he heard the anointed one (Jesus) passing by, for him to recognize him and at least give him an opportunity for a quick miraculous encounter. He (the blind man Bartimaeus), was rebuked by the crowed for calling out to Jesus. Rather than stop he increased in the volume of his tone, yelling out to the master even more. (Watch this)Jesus heard him (blind man Bartimaeus) and said Tell him to come here, Bartimaeus threw down his coat and hurried to Jesus. Jesus then asked him what do you want from me” in other words what do you want me to do for you”. Bartimaeus replied I want to see, Jesus then told him Go! Your faith has made you well and immediately his eyes opened.
I want you to draw out 3 key points from the illustration above on how we can receive from God.
·        PRAYER- the means of communication between God and man. It is also a way we make our request known unto God. And we can see this in the situation whereby Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus saying in verse 47 “Jesus, son of David have mercy on me” and also in verse 51 when Jesus asked him what he wanted and he replied “I want to see”. That was prayer because he was making his request known.
·        FAITH- Believing in the power of GOD that he alone is over capable of helping. We can also see this in the situation where he believed Jesus had the ability to grant him his request. No one ask for a favor from someone that isn’t capable of rending help.
·        MEETING GOD HALF WAY- This is whereby we leave our comfort zone, thereby coming to a point where we are in agreement with GOD by taking required steps. And we can see this in verse 49 when Bartimaeus threw his coat, jumped up and then went to Jesus.
We all know a little or more about the first two (i.e. prayer and faith), but I would like to elaborate on the subjected matter that gave birth to the title of this article Meeting God Half Way.
For instance, those who do their dishes after eating, do they sit down at the dining table after they are done, waiting for the tap to come meet them at the dining table? Whether a move is made or not it doesn’t change the fact that there is an existence of a tap filled with water (which is the provision). And that’s how it is between us and God, the provision is already available all we need do is make a move.
Anywhere there is an act of giving; there is always an act of receiving because it is an action that showcases the readiness to collect. And that’s the main significance of meeting GOD half way, because it showcases our readiness to collect what he want. You are the way the truth and the life
Some people might say “GOD meeting you half way is difficult” and that’s why am sure if some were Bartimaeus they would have told Jesus “But lord you know am blind, how do you expect me to see where you standing, talk more of coming to meet you”. The fact is that Jesus knew he was blind. One thing we should know is that anytime God ask us to leave our comfort zone he will surely lead us to wherever he is waiting for us if we yield our self to him. Another thing is that he also has so much confidence in us because of the strength he has made available for us to achieve. I end with this saying from Bishop Oyedepo “Every man that will ever have a testimony, must first do something before God can do something”.
