“Overnight success isn’t realistic”
Ever
seen a chicken egg burst open to unveil a new chick? If you have, please I want
to see for myself. We don’t sleep broke and wake up successful the next day do
we?
The only way overnight success occurs is if there has been constant impression on a solidified foundation of hard work and patience.
Rome
wasn’t built a day isn’t it, meaning things have to be done bit by bit; there
have to be a mapping, a planning and an execution.
If we
want to build a house for instance, an architect has to draft the building
plan, surveyors have to survey the landscape to ensure its buildable, building
materials have to be sourced and a foundation has to be dug for building to
start up.
Why is success far from you?
Despite
your aspirations in life, if you have the following, you can’t be successful.
1. Poor goal map: Most
people seeking for success haven’t done the first homework which is having a
proper plan same way an architect does?
There are
24 hours a day and 365 days a year, how well have you been able to utilize your
time?
“The only thing even in this world is the number of hours in a day. The difference is winning or losing what you do with those hours”. -Woody Hayes
2. Unknown:
“A blind man in a pool of gold can’t be rich.”
How
much do you know yourself? How deep have you dug to identify yourself in order
to know the area you can function in the most?
Lack of
building technical knowledge of your field, skill building, self maturity, and
related abilities enhance an unknown future.
3. Poor mindset: Ever
heard of SMART (Specific,
Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time) goal setting?… most times I figure out
some goals are already failed project from the onset due to its unspecific, immeasurable,
unattainable, unrealistic, and untimely nature.
Building
castles in the air without applied rules would turn your dream to a decline. However, patience is a virtue needed to achieve ones dreams.
“It’s not how far you’ve come but how much you have achieved”
How can you be successful?
It starts
with managing your time, self and tracking your progress. However, note the
following important tips;
A. Get a
journal or diary
B. Break your
vision into long-term goals and then short term goals
C. Break short term goals to daily tasks
D. Take
every day as it comes, don’t be in a hurry cos you can’t do it all at ones
E. Take
out the first 10minutes in the morning to map out things you intend to do that
day
F. Set
time frame to it
G. Break
your day to three sections (morning,
afternoon and evening).
H. Review
your daily task at the end of each section.
I. Start
with the most difficult task (ugliest
frog)
J. Before
going to bed, review your daily task and write out task for the next day.
Wrap up
The
more we disturb ourselves about getting successful, the more we are likely to
derail. Lest we forget that focusing on a daily task produce long lasting
impression for maximum impact.
So if you ask me, i'd say quit your overnight anxiety and put your back into it, enjoy the moment, track your progress, watch yourself grow and solidified for success.
