Most of us think our homes are spotless but shockingly there are
places you least expect germs to rule. Microorganisms are very tiny organism unseen
by our naked eyes; they could lead to various kinds of infection and diseases
if they are not well managed. Let the surprise begin;
1. Toothbrush
The tooth brush is a tool that cleans the mouth yet the mouth is a
very cool environment for bacteria to feast on. Some people continuously use
their brush all year round lol, the danger of this is that instead of cleaning
your mouth, you are continuously spreading microorganisms round.
This explains why health personnel’s advice to use tooth brush within 2
month or at most 3 months to maintain. Don’t put tooth brush in moist area.
2. Personal Items (Remote Controls, Phones and Keyboards)
Our hands are
constantly full of germs therefore what so ever we touch is a recipient of
these germs. Things like remote controls, phones, and keyboards are all things
that you constantly touch with your hands, which are always full of germs. It’s
good you wipe these items with a disinfectant to help eliminate germs.
3. Floor
Most times we wear our footwear inside the house when arriving from
office, church or school. The danger of this is that the soil has large amount
of microorganism.
To avoid dissemination of this hazardous microorganism such as Bacillusspp,
we must ensure we clean our foot wear properly using the foot mat, and
always disinfect the floor using disinfectant when mopping at least twice every
week, this is very important in house
that have young children.
4. Refrigerator
Most of us find it very difficult to regularly take time to clean the
fridge.
Health they say is wealth, our food stuff kept in a dirty fridge could
be contaminated with bacteria such as E.coil, salmonella, shigella and stapphylococusspp;
this is because food has loads of nutrients in them so microorganism will jump
into anything that will give them food.
To avoid contamination, always clean the fridge as often as possible
especially when there is no power supply because microorganism thrives easily
within 40-45 Degree Celsius.
5. Kitchen sink
It’s very crucial to understand that the sink harbors
various degrees of bacteria, that’s why you perceive offensive odour sometimes.
Food particles from plates left in the sink can serve
as a breeding ground for harmful bacteria as E. coli and
salmonella.
They can get on your hands or spread
to foods. The sink should be washed thoroughly, it’s very important also to
pour hot water to help clear the pipes in case of any blockage.
Wrap up
In order to stay healthy, it’s good
we practice absolute cleanliness. Remember cleanliness is one major
prerequisite for a healthy lifestyle and relationship because it’s next to
Godliness.
