HOW TO ACTIVELY USE THE SOCIAL MEDIA AND SMART PHONE

Ever thought about it this way?
“SoLoMo” an acronym I came across lately on my voyage for digital upgrade. "Social, Local and Mobile" are three basic vitality we witness in this transcending generation where almost everything has a soft-copy version attached to it.
No doubt technology has surpassed human expectations and predictions. It is amazing figuring out we are on the verge of an endless upgrade and expansion.

The Social Media” which clearly broke out from the “Traditional Media” has given everyone access to endless opportunities with a powerful tool.

“People are sheep, Tv is the shepherd” Jess C. Scott

The social media is indeed so powerful you might not know how close to the canyon of destruction you are due to its hypnotic/sedative effect.

Although, the media in general is more powerful than the President. Oh yea!!! The media are the eyes of a nation; it can either make or mar the nation. Wrong information has caused many soldiers to lose battles they ought to have won; it has as well made the no-bodies to become the some-bodies. Ever heard of the quote “Information is power”.

“Whoever controls the media controls the mind” Jim Morrison

Now we know how powerful the media is, how can you then make the best use of our social media other than posting random baseless pictures, watching some meaningless videos and reading couple of news that don’t put money into our bank account or develop your personality?

Are you ready?

“Having a smart phone doesn’t not mean you know how to utilize the social media”

1. Education: Education is beyond the four walls of primary, secondary and tertiary institution. As accessibility to social media rise, it’s smart you tap into the opportunity of boosting your educational lifestyle which includes; boosting your reading habits, knowing your learning styles, cultivating grounded writing skills, understanding ways to answer questions,  grabbing cutting edge ways to write your assignment, project as so on.

There are lots of resources, glossary, journals encompassed in the internet to help with your academic level.

You can visit the following sites;

You can go further to run an online free or paid course which I strongly recommend for everyone who wants to break the limit.

Sites like;

You can find out more e-learning sites on any search engine.
Something i have come to witness
2. Research: Everyone needs an upgrade and update in their various lane, abilities, jobs, and life. With the constant change in social media activities, you might want to follow up blogs, websites, tweets that post relevant information pertaining to your knowledge update.

Many people don’t know there are various search engines for various careers/practitioners. You can use google to get the list of other search engines and sites pertaining to your career but here are some few;

webMD for medical practitioners
LexisNexis for Legal Practitioners

3. Fitness: Health is wealth”… I used to have a press-up, sit-up and cardio app, I ignored it since I came across Swork-it

There are different versions with various functions anyway, you can check out the one that’s suitable for you. “I love the yoga segment”. There is also children’s version which the family can use for fun during the weekend.

The app is so flexible you can choose the time frame of the exercise, including pause option while needing to catch a breath as well as it works offline.
Let's play a game, be truthful
4. Skill Building: Lately I learnt how to fold a T-shirt in 5 wow seconds...who can do that?"hummm i'm still working on the speed actually"… I also know how to neatly arrange T-shirts in rolls in a way my baggage would have lots of space in it to contain a car lol. Mum and Dad these days might not teach you everything cos they are busy with their own social media lol.

This is where searching "How to do stuff" on YouTube and other search engine comes in. Facebook and BBM now have list of various groups and channels for such.

You can learn from first aid to quick life hacks and others relating to your personality, career and talent. I have an app on my phone called Lifehack Collection, it shows you how little irrelevant things can be very resourceful.

Building your skills makes you see relevance in yourself, sweetens your personality to a never ending touch.

Due to my interest in Personal Development and Speech Presentation, I have the following apps on my smart phone; if you are using google play, you can download;

  • I also have puzzle games like Free Flow, Juice Cubes, Crossword Puzzles…among others I use to track my social media activities and blog.

 Wrap up.

“While others are busy getting empty, be busy getting full”

While others are busy party-harding their time, mobile data, emotions, and interest away, be busy getting resourceful, intellectually sexy that no organization and individual can ignore.

Stay tuned as i bring to you more info on SoLoMo. In the main time, i would like to hear from you how you've been able to utilize the social media.
