FRIENDship vs. DATEship

   Relationship, relationship, relationship!!! The world’s obsession… confusing, difficult, ambiguous, delusional, conflicting, same time sensational, fascinating, exciting, sultry, dew on top of the mountain…Whatever category you in, clap for yourself.

   Relationship is an umbrella that house abstract amazing feelings we commonly share like friendship, dateship and family. Talking about friendship, it’s a relationship we venture into with people we like, sometimes admire. Dateship aka dating is the upgraded version of friendship we venture into with one special person while family are strange people we don’t choose in the first place but are made to roll with, accept them for who they are and what they have become.

   Is it true “some people are better lovers than friends while others are better friends than lovers?” These things can be puzzling most times. What makes you kick start dating in the first place?

   I believe we can relate to this topic very well because we all have friends and crushes… why is it that when we decide to upgrade a friendship with that special person amongst our friends, instead of having dews on the mountain it becomes fire on the mountain? The calls becomes inadequate, suspicion slides in, jealously is the diet of the day, boredom jumps into ship cabin. No more playful Romeo and Juliet, adventure Jack and Sally, investigating Batman and Catwoman. Everything gets cold like subzero has fallen in love.

   Tonia and Jerry are two close friends the world would never forget. They talk alike, act alike, dress alike even walk alike. These similarities made people call them “husband and wife”.

    Tonia chased any girl that came close to Jerry and the other way round still no one had the balls to activate a relationship. Jerry summoned up courage to ask Tonia out. Boom!!! They kick voyage with dateship.

   Few months later quarrels, mistrusts settled into their ship. Tonia felt she needed more attention than the regular attention he gave her while Jerry felt she needed to be more understanding. They couldn’t balance the tides so they broke up. Up till now they never spoke or roll together again.

   C’mon since when did dating become a prison or rather a formal relationship that letter headed paper might be included to prove how serious we are in love. Oh please!!!

   There is more to dating than friendship. One has to be ripe in maturity to see the difference.

Better friends than lovers: When two opposite sex are friends, they are extremely free with each other; they tell themselves deep secrets they won’t share with their spouse, most times they know their flaws so well that they somehow act like siblings or old couple. This is where some people start developing feelings but can’t speak cos if they do, they might ruin the friendship. The chance of starting up a relationship from friend zone is 30/100 unlike the way we get to see in movies though.

But I thought they said the best person we could ever date is our friend?

    In friendship, you tolerate each other excess; you know how to balance your feelings in a way you won’t get hurt…this makes everything move smoothly, understandably and reasonable.

   Better lovers than friends: The freshest and juicy dating is the type where two people go a long way to build friendship. Although it’s very normal and natural for dating to get boring unlike friendship where there are several restrictions especially when it comes to intimate gateway yet some gates are wide opened causing friendship to be more interesting than dating sometimes but when accurate friendship is practiced in dating, its a never ending fun-plosion.

Dating is the upgraded version of friendship, it’s a time where our maturity soar, blossom, a time where the playful aspect of us erupts towards creating an entertaining piece of us that our spouse lingers and misses when they are not around.

   I have some friends who i know fully well we like ourselves but we can’t get dating. Not just that I already have a girlfriend but we know that at some end we might not be able to tolerate each other excess.

Never forget your dignity has to be protected in every friendship. When you respect your friends and their feelings, you show maturity. Never turn your friends to emotional objects.

    Still, we have to realize that its two it takes to tangle, if its only one person paddling the boat, he/she is likely to get tired and the boat won’t reach anywhere or might just be moving in circles unlike when both individual input same effort in paddling the boat to a great destination.

   But one thing is for sure, there can never be dateship without friendship. Girlfriend, Boyfriend. A friend is someone you enjoy their company…that’s why before you venture into dating with someone, you two must have built a foundation of friendship because it’s what you guys falls back on when things are not straight as you two anticipated.
