HOW TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS REAL 101

Hello guys, happy new month.
For this month special, I will be sharing with you short vital information from my captioning Personal Development Workshop topic How to make your Dreams Real.

Life is a market place. There are numerous products out there to suite our taste and personality. Every product has its target and channel to meet up the rigorous demands of our daily needs, entertainment, pleasures and desires.

The main aim for every vision is reaching out to people, touching lives and affecting them positively. Unarguably, if you don’t have a target in mind, then don’t expect a reward.

The issue is, majority people fail to identify their talent (Gold mine), the channel, mode or transmission and target.

How to spot your talent

For those who don’t really know their talent, your talent can be found in your hobbies. It is something often complimented by people around you. Sometimes, you just need one situation to pop up and you figure out you are good in this and extremely good in another.

Vision, Goals, Plans

Talking about what you want to be in life, there is a process to everything. It’s expected that one must have a Vision, Goals and Plan.

Visions are the big dreams, the ones that seem impossible due to their gigantic nature. Visions can include owning a social media company that will make Facebook go to sleep, being the president of Japan [Barack Obama defied the law of presidency], being a professional practitioner etc.

Goals are aspirations that can be achieved within a certain period of time. Goals include passing WAEC, JAMB, gaining admission into the university, graduating with outstanding grades, undergoing professional courses, learning multiple skills etc.

Plans are the current choices made by you towards achieving his/her goals, leading to a supernova vision.

THE CHAIN OF REALITY

PRODUCT: Your stuff, your food for the world, your skills.

CHANNEL: The medium through which you intend reaching out to your target.

TARGET: Who do you have in mind to patronize your product?

We are product of what we consume. Your product must be consumable. It must be rich and full of sense that people with no sense would want to have sense.

LONG TERM GOALS & SHORT TERM GOALS

Goals can be grouped into long term goal and short term goal. The long term goal is something you want to do in the future but cant due to limited access to resources and knowledge while the short term goals  are things available to your inventory and skills which makes you stronger, grooms and nurture you to handle your long term goals.

Example of short term goals could include;

I. Online courses (Open2Study, Global Health Learning, Coursera)

II. Skill and craft lessons (Tailoring, Bead making, Graphics designing)

III. Mentorship and Leadership programs (Time management, Entrepreneurship)

Identifying your place is one, sticking to it is another. Mistake people make is trying to reach out to everyone…that’s not possible.

Over stretching the scope of your talent limits its effectiveness

This invites discouragement to settle in. Using the SMART goal setting settles everything.

The movie Matrix introduced something new to the world of movie, no one saw screen play from the trajectory of “The Wachowski Brothers”. Today thousands of movies adapted the slow motion and bass drop effect from the Matrix sequel adding a long lasting on viewers memory.

Some people want to be writers, what plans have you set to go at it? Literature in Nigeria is begging to be awakened. Writing Poems might not put food on your table in Nigeria but you can make it possible through your plan, approach and creativity.

If you want go into photography, ever thought of doing something outside the regular party, wedding photo shoot, models, and other weak reoccurring concept?

Why don’t you go into nature photography, street photography, and animal photography then open a blog or website where you upload and probably sell your photo shoot for graphic designers to download. Istock, Getty image are examples of such.

C’mon it’s high time you think outside the regular products we have, come up with your own inventions and ideas.

“Add extra to your ordinary to make it extraordinary”

Don’t be shy to start something new, you don’t need to copy anyone.

Nigeria has many professors/graduates yet little inventions.
