LETS CREATE ANIMATION CLUB @ AMERICAN GQ

   

    America is not so far from Nigeria after the erection of America GQ situated at Ikoyi, Lagos State. Ash7 Animation Studio paid a warm visit to this facility in propagation of its foremost creative campaign “The Lets Create Animation Club.

   The class was scheduled for 11:00am September 12^th. Ash7 Crew members were present at the venue by 10:15am to setup for the workshop. The crew members were no other person than Victor Enoch (Director), Emeka Ibe (Assistant Director), and Newton Paul (Online PR). Mr Oluwatosin Afolabi a staff of the America GQ was the facilitator for the animation workshop.

    The security at the premises will boost your courage. Visitors must present a valid I.D card at the entrance; go for bag checks and metal detection check as well. Welcoming your eyes in the main premises is the beautiful recreational facility (Lawn tennis court, Basketball court, children’s playground) other facilities include Cafeteria, Gym, and Restaurant etc.

   The workshop started with beautiful kids sitting and listening to the Director who asked them different questions to test their understanding on Animation. Prior to the lectures, kids who were present over anticipated, creating excitement and series of intriguing question.

    During the course of the workshop, the kids were asked to draw circles at the bottom part of their customized Dave and Golly jolters to portray how a flipbook animation is done when flipped. Disney’s early Micky Mouse cartoon was a perfect example for the workshop, stressing how tedious it was creating an animation of over 2,000 drawing without the invention of a computer.

   The invention of computer, destroyed the old means of creating animation, it made it faster, smoother, convenient, affordable, flexible and much more beautiful. A practical demonstration was performed with Macromedia flash software. A circle was animated to move from one part of the screen to the other. The little kids amongst them practiced how to create such motion with the direction of Mr Victor Enoch himself. 

   It was extremely beautiful watching young smart polished potential leaders of tomorrow speedily execute a gigantic task with just one click on the mouse. 

 

  Clips of Dave and Golly Animation were shown to portray the finished work of a powerful innovative artwork. This grabbed the attention of everyone in the workshop including parents who stayed with their kids creating an avenue for more anticipation. 

     Finally a simple demonstration was done on how to make a car move using an illusion technique on Flash.

   Mr Ricardo Minaise the manager of the America GQ thanked the crew for their brilliant performance and encourage to visit another time.
