Multi-level Marketing |
Lucrative
opportunities swell daily in Africa and the world at large. Investors are
currently attracted to Africa’s market due to its enormous population and breaking
dawn of digitized marketing.
Daily things change like Theresa May becoming UK Prime Minister is awakening our stretching ability. However, due to emerging wants and needs, multiple source of income has become the current trend in every home.
No
doubt, some alternative source of income has tempered with some people’s
financial freedom whereas, same source has been some people’s gold mine.
Multi-level
marketing aka “MLM” or “Networking” is the talk of town,
everyone wants you to join their marketing campaign in order to partake in the
juicy earnings as well as boost their own earnings. Before you take that huge leap
of faith into any MLM, I think you should wait a minute and take a look at
these top notch points that will guide you.
1. Multi-level marketing is for the rich: Let me
land first before you eat me raw.
Rich
people look for opportunities to make investment for financial growth. The
start off point of some good MLM is from 200,000 and above. Starting at the
least point is more of a limitation and set back. You have to be rich to tap
into the gold reservoir of the business.
Lately,
I asked a guy how much he had spent in his marketing deal and he said over a
million naira. Omg!!!
The
status of a rich man paves way for him therefore attracting people towards the
believability of his course.
I have
never seen a broke ass nigger/niggress facilitate/train in a MLM
workshop/seminar. They are always having big cars, fashionable clothes and posh
phones which I know is used to win people. I don’t think anyone would want to
be in a business that he/she isn’t seeing result from his superiors.
Before
you jump into this sort of business, I guess you should ask yourself “Do I
have such an amount to spare?”
2. Multi-level marketing is a side
business: Just like any other business you have out there outside
your current/main job, MLM is just another opti0n to raise cash. It’s not
compulsory to participate in one cos it requires your all in all. Ignore the
marketing lyrics some people will use in seducing you. Lately I met this hot
chick who has been disturbing me to join her marketing campaign, it was more
like, “no friendship without you joining my stuff”…well I had to pass
mehn.
What a Dilemma....Join MLM or Forget her. |
3. Contact: Who do
you know? So far I haven’t seen a standalone MLM business. Introducing people is
the major factor that determines your growth, expansion, and returns in the marketing
world. Referral is the currency of MLM.
Just as
the term “marketing” implies, your
contact must be people who have same vision and aspiration with you. If you
don’t have people you can connect with to sell your product or ideas, then you
aren’t ready for MLM. This is the main reason I said “MLM is for the rich”. Rich people have rich friends who are
desperate for investment.
I
believe your networking map should be 100% drafted before considering MLM.
4. The nature of MLM: Surprisingly,
these days, it’s not all MLM that involves selling of products. Some are just
simply services, while others are mainly ideas and referral. Either way, it’s
good you understand the nature of the particular MLM you want to go into.
Some MLM
requires you to bring two people, while your two bring their twos (the power of two)…what if one among
your two isn’t functioning effectively, what happens to your progress? Other
MLM might require you bringing one person every month, or three people at a
start. Either way, you need to find out properly.
The Power of Two |
These
are things one need to ask and really look into. This will help you do your
mapping and planning. An example is Organo
Gold which is basically into Coffee; it requires you linking with people
who are coffee consumers. How many coffee drinkers, shops, malls, do you know?
5. Transparency: This is
where I frown over most MLM businesses in Nigeria. Due to desperation from existing
members to float on top, they play on the minds of other people. Most times
it’s the rich that play on the poor cos they know the poor needs money thus manipulating
them and introducing them into business they have limited knowledge on.
MLM
requires accurate understanding of terms, policies, operations etc. before
anyone can subscribe to it. Lack of vital information can simply bankrupt you
and ruin your relationship with others.
You
must be watchful on this aspect.
“Financially, the odds for an individual to
achieve financial success under those circumstances rival the odds of winning
at the tables in Las Vegas.”
(The 10 Lies Big Lies of
Multi-Level Marketing by Robert L. FitzPatrick)
In
conclusion, due to the digitized nature of the world accompanied with massive
knowledge about previous fails in other MLM businesses, recent MLM have been
tapping into diverse means of operation which is easier, affordable, flexible,
and somewhat genuine. Therefore, strong knowledge on internet, ICT, marketing,
and other related themes might come in very handy as you dive into MLM.
Well you have heard from me, I would like to hear your take on this matter, especially those who have made real cash out of MLM or those who have lost from MLM.
